Thank Frock It’s Friday! ♥

If you’re clicking here for the first time, WELCOME! Every Friday we celebrate the fact that – ding, ding! – it’s Friday, and our favourite things (late-night movie dates? Wet towels?! Okay, it’s probably not the latter…) from the week that was. Here’s what I’m currently loving!

Amazing Auckland, New Zealand <3

Quite the amazing sight, isn’t it?! Say hello to Auckland, New Zealand!

x Upcoming Travel – Or as the magnificent Madonna would purr, “holi-day… cele-brate! If we took a holiday, it would be… it would be so nice!” WOULDN’T IT, Madonna?! This is precisely why I’m skipping off to Auckland next weekend, and then Wellington the following week! (Hooray!) Few things make my heart happier than fossicking through different locations, so the days ahead will be a TREAT! I’m going to eagerly trundle my way through the city, boogie the night away at my Auntie’s disco-themed (the best kind of theme!) birthday party, lure my Mother away to lunch (she’s flying over from Australia for the occasion!) and more than likely cry with pride/anticipation at the sight of my little sister’s pregnant belly. The first flight on Thursday couldn’t come any sooner!

Richard's custom-made pool table cake. Happy Birthday, Rooster! <3

x Surprising My Beloved – It was Richard’s birthday a wee while ago, and I chose to live by the logic if you can’t surprise/embarrass the bejesus out of your loved one on the anniversary of their birth, then when CAN you?!”  After arranging to have a red rose, custom-made pool table cake and balloon delivered to his workplace on their morning tea break (in a panel-beating shop full of men, you can just imagine how this went down. Muahahahaha!), I organised for a bunch of pizzas to be sent during their lunch hour, and I swear, making a big fuss/waiting for the barrage of CORRINE! What have you done?!” messages was more enjoyable than sampling the creation (banana-flavoured, mmm) later itself. We’re only on this earth once; go hard or go home, I say!

IMG_4580

x Other Little Things – Gin, lime and soda (a winning combination!); lying in bed and giggling; texts which alert you “don’t worry; I’m cooking dinner tonight, and it’s a SURPRISE!’(especially when you’re in the middle of faux-whining to one of your friends “ah, jeez. Meal inspiration is totally evading me tonight!”); warmer weather (winter, it’s been a joy, but… wait a minute. NO IT HASN’T. You’ve brought the freeze full-force this year, and I’m eagerly ushering spring in!); Limp Bizkit (a perennial favourite, no matter how uncool it is to love them!); gourmet sandwiches (pesto makes everything better); earthquake-free weeks (New Zealanders will understand!); invites to jump aboard new, fantastic-sounding projects (whee!); scooping up a rice cooker on sale for $19; Jelly Tip ice-creams; and finally, spending my final week as a 25 year-old. Eek! I’m 26 next Sunday! Is there anything radical/remarkable/ridiculous that I need to do before I creep closer towards the ’30’ club?!

Happy Friday to you! Do you have any super weekend plans to share?! Mine is looking q-u-i-e-t, but I’m scooting off to meet a former UK journalist who’s launching a brand-spanking new magazine here in Blenheim shortly, so hopefully that will be fun! (Or at least, interesting!)

Thank Frock It’s Friday! (Alright… MONDAY!) ♥

sparklylondon

If you’re clicking here for the first time, WELCOME! Every Friday (well, today it’s Monday. Oops!) we celebrate the fact that – ding, ding! – it’s Friday, and our favourite things (scented candles? Vacuum cleaners?! Okay, it’s probably not the latter…) from the week that was. Here’s what I’m currently loving!

x Preparing To Move… To LONDON! – Squeal! Tremble! Squeal, tremble, squeal-tremble!

Now, I wish I had an exciting/remotely interesting reason as to why I’m moving to London to share with you. I mean, wouldn’t it be neat-o if I could exclaim that I was heading overseas to join a mysterious CULT? (Actually… probably not!) Or because I’d been offered to have high tea with the QUEEN?! Potentially, but the reality is far less entertaining!

I’m 24. I’ve been uttering “I want to – no, HAVE TO – move to London one day!” since I was 21. I figured that if I didn’t do it now, then honestly… when would I? I do not want to be an 80 year-old with regrets! (Heck, I don’t even want to be a 25 year-old with regrets!) So with that, I made the decision to take the plunge, and I’m booking my one-way ticket ANY DAY NOW!

Will I be miserable and permanently cold and lonely? Maaaybe. Will it be impossible to find any kind of employment? Perhaps. But who cares?! I’d rather have an adventure than die wondering! (And besides, if it’s THAT awful, I’ll just take myself somewhere else. Scotland? Russia? China?! Anything’s possible!)

Tokyo New York Sao Paolo London Paris Frankfurt Rome Delhi Moscow Toronto

x Wriggling Outside Of My Comfort Zone – And leaving the house in an emerald-green mini-dress. (When did I become so gosh darn conservative? Around the time I started saying ”gosh darn”?! I have no flipping idea, but I was literally terrified to venture out in that ensemble! WHAT A GRANDMOTHER!) And leaping up when ”we’ll never be younger than we are now. Let’s get on that dancefloor and BOOTY GRIND!” is hurled at me. And signing up for beginner hip-hop dance classes. (Oh… my… goodness!)

x Other Little Things – Eagerly awaiting my first order from Nasty Gal (I bought this… and THESE!); big, silly smooches; The Pussycat Dolls (I know… HUH?! But my ears can’t stop listening to I Hate This Part or Bottle Pop!); drinks, winks and hi-jinks a-plenty at The Ivy; plotting shenanigans (what crazy new things can I try this week? Suggestions are extremely welcome!); picture messages (stuff traditional text messages. I’m obsessed with communicating through nonsensical photographs!); back-to-back episodes of An Idiot Abroad (fitting, as I plan on being one very, very soon!); and finally, SENSATIONAL lifestyle advice from my (equally sensational!) friend, Priyanka:

priyanka

“You know, I’ve just started working full-time for the first time, and sometimes? Sometimes, I feel a little bit mopey about that. A bit bored. A bit BLAH. Life starts to seem slightly depressing, but you know what? I just CRANK Sexy & I Know It before I leave the house and dance around my bedroom like an idiot, singing ”GIRL, LOOK AT THAT BODY!” to myself in the mirror, and I think ”d-a-m-n… I am FINE… and I’m going to have a great day!”

Suggestion For The Week Ahead

x Follow Priyanka’s lead (really… isn’t she awesome?!) and bust a move first thing in the morning to an insanely upbeat tune. GO ON. I dare you!

With the always-delightful Danimezza...
If you’re clicking here for the first time, WELCOME! Every Friday (well, today it’s Monday. Oops!) we celebrate the fact that – ding, ding! – it’s Friday, and our favourite things (vintage teacups? Empty cardboard boxes?! Okay, it’s probably not the latter…) from the week that was. Here’s what I’m currently loving!

x Attending The Girls Night In Curvy Clothes Swap – Goodness, where should I even start?! From the beginning? ALRIGHTY!

Last Saturday the ever-divine Danimezza (pictured on the left!) hosted a Girls Night In charity event for the Cancer Council, and jeez, what a shindig it was! As Dani explains:

“A few months ago I received a letter in the mail asking me if I would like to host a Girls Night In charity event for the Cancer Council to aid research into all women’s cancers, so I got thinking about what sort of event I could host, who I would invite and how I could raise funds and still have fun. I’d met up with a few plus-size bloggers in Sydney and there had been a few mentions of having too many clothes and needing to sort out our wardrobes, so I thought a Curvy Clothes Swap Party would be PERFECT. Attendees would pay a set donation amount to attend the event which would go directly to charity, we’d all get together somewhere nice and swap our clothes and accessories… too easy!”

The view from our apartment at the Meriton World Square.. a-m-a-z-i-n-g!
And when the girl says “we’ll all get together somewhere nice”, she WASN’T joking around… check out the jaw-droppingly stunning view from the event’s location, The Meriton World Square Apartments(HI, Sydney!)

With the lovely Melissa of Suger Coat It (sugercoatit.blogspot.com) fame!
Melissa from Suger Coat It was our surprise guest (she’d flown in especially from Queensland to attend!), and honestly, she was every bit as delightful as her blog’s title suggests. Gorgeous? Tick! Charming? Tick!  Down-to-earth, hilarious and generally l-o-v-e-l-y? Tick, tick, TICK!

Some of the goodies on offer...
With swoon-worthy accessories in a multitude of hues, there were pieces for everyone to fall in love with! (You better believe that I nabbed those silk faux flowers on the table!)

Clothing shenanigans!
Mid-swap shenanigans! The girls (Hayley, Liz, Caitlin, Dani, Melissa and Laura) examining the goods on offer…

Trying pieces on with Hayley of www.fashionhayley.com! (Nice finds, hey?!)
Oh look, it’s Fashion Hayley! Apart from the fact that Hayley was enormously sweet, do you know how brilliant it was to have a stylist in attendance? EXTREMELY! She co-erced me into trying numerous pieces that I typically would’ve avoided, literally flinging dresses at me and exclaiming “Corrine, try this! No, it’s not too orange. TRY IT!” It was terrific to have someone there hoisting me out of my sartorial safety zones!

Piiiiiiiiiiiiiizza! Thanks Dominos :)
Piiizzzaaa! (HUGE thanks to the legends at Domino’s for sponsoring our dinner!)

SDC13949
The adorable Caitlin and I showcasing our new favourite threads. (Nice finds, hey?! The belt actually came from Hayley herself, and the dresses courtesy of the wardrobe of Gisela Ramirez!)

SDC13900
It was such an excellent afternoon! (In fact, the whole thing was such a success that Dani’s announced the Curvy Clothes Swap is now going to be an annual affair, so if you weren’t able to make it this time around, for the love of clothes, next year, COME! I’d love to see you there!)

x Other Little Things – INSANE evenings at The Forbes Hotel (um, wow. Just… wow!); so-atrocious-it’s-hilarious-television (last night my almost-brother-in-law introduced me to the madness that is Millionaire Matchmaker. Have you ever seen it?! Holy heck!); Sydney’s Peace Harmony restaurant on Erskine Street (seriously, don’t be fooled by the hippy-dippy sounding name, their Thai food is absolutely KILLER!); re-discovering old music (The Butterfly Effect, anyone?!); Crowded House’s Distant Sun (because what’s not to love about the lyrics “seven worlds will collide… whenever I’m by your side”? Not a THING!); Sydney On A Shoestring (I’m adoring this new blog!); New Zealand anticipation (Auckland folk, come December the 1st, I’m headed your way! Let’s meet up!); and finally, LIFE ITSELF, in all of its nutty, beautiful and perfectly imperfect glory. It’s a constantly crazy, ever-changing rollercoaster ride… and I wouldn’t change a thing!

Suggestion For The Week Ahead

x Attempt to connect with (or at least, seek to find the beauty in!) someone that you’re convinced you dislike. Of course, there are massive exceptions here (look, if someone’s just a bit of a jerk, that’s fine… leave them to be a jerk!), but how often do we meet people that we lump into ridiculous categories/assume wouldn’t understand us and/or have nothing in common with us? ALL THE TIME! You certainly don’t have to be friends with everyone, but if there’s one lesson that I’ve learned in 2011, it’s this: Turkish bread is FLIPPING DIFFICULT TO SLICE. Wait! That’s not it. (Although, IT IS!) It’s that the world is far, far more enjoyable when you resolve to enjoy the people who inhabit it. Have a conversation with somebody from another culture. Enquire about the bank teller’s day. Make the effort to appreciate others; it almost always comes backs to you!

Happy, happy (belated!) weekend! How was your week? It’s been a while, hasn’t it? A-r-g-h! (And sheesh, without wanting to smother you with mushiness or anything… I’ve really, REALLY missed you!)

xoxo

Thank Frock It’s Friday! ♥

confettisparkleIf you’re clicking here for the first time, WELCOME! Every Friday we celebrate the fact that – ding, ding! – it’s Friday, and our favourite things (a fresh bouquet of flowers? Mouse traps?! Okay, it’s probably not the latter…) from the week that was. Here’s what I’m currently loving!

x My 24th Birthday – I TURNED 24 YESTERDAY! Pretty scary, huh?! For a girl who still feels 18 99.9% of the time, a teensy bit! (Well, until I spluttered that out loud and a guy in his sixties snorted at me ”oh, yeah. It must be sooo difficult to be in your twenties” *insert sarcastic eye roll here*, that is. Then I just kind of felt like a jerk!)

Thai food was gobbled, an excellent day was had and I’m beginning to think that there really is some truth to the whole ”the older you get, the better you feel” theory. (Even though I still feel 18, I know that I definitely wouldn’t want to be 18 again, you know? You know!)

IMAG0053

(Do I look any older?!)

x The Possibility Of Having An Intern – Did somebody say ”www.nervewracking.com”?! I have been, although to be honest, my immediate thoughts were actually ”but who would want to bang keys and bop along to The Village People all day with me?!” Kirstie, a lovely-sounding lass who’s currently studying journalism at a university in Sydney, has asked if she can come and do work experience with me in the next couple of weeks, and although I’m sort of panicking over the logistics of it, I’m thinking that it could be one INTERESTING opportunity! (What do you think? Should we do it? Considering that I was pestering Sam Winter to do the same thing a couple of years ago and she was totally wonderful about it, I’m leaning towards ”yes!”)

x Self-Expression & Honesty – Goodness, where should I start? I’m not sure, but can I just say that I’m always extremely, extremely impressed when somebody puts themselves out there and reveals how they feel? Seriously, it’s one of my favourite things in the WORLD! (As strange as it may sound, nothing impresses me more.)

x Other Little Things – Insanely sweet blogging feedback (I met a woman today who very kindly told me that she and her daughter – shock! – loved Frock & Roll. I was so surprised and caught off guard that all I could do was thank her and run away. I’m sorry, Tamie!); receiving an e-mail from the delightful Vanessa of Nessbow (have you seen her blog? It’s a treat!) which completely made my day; A Perfect Circle’s 3 Libras; Shakira’s Ojos Asi (namely because it’s superb music to practice belly dancing to, but also for the cuter-than-cute lyrics: ”tearing down windows and doors, but I could not find eyes like yours”? Be-au-tiful! In non-musical news… WHY am I becoming such a sucker for romance in my old age? Jeez!); successful cooking experiments (I somehow managed to bake a carrot and feta lasagne on Sunday night without setting fire to the apartment. WOO!); Mona Vale Library’s free wifi iniative (terrific!); really, really adorable boys who buy you birthday chocolates (thank-you!); and small, slow-spreading smiles… because sometimes, they’re the ones which reveal precisely how delighted you actually are!

Suggestions For The Week Ahead

Oh, gossip, gossip, gossip. Aren’t we all occasionally the subject of it? (For the record, we are!) Just remember next time someone says something slightly shitty, though, that regardless of how irritating the situation is, you’ve endured FAR more than a few pesky words. This is nothing! Shrug, throw your hands up and opt to laugh over the silliness of it all. The quicker you realise how ridiculous it all is, the better you’ll feel!

x Use the ”good stuff”. Don’t wait for a special occasion to use your most beautiful things! Wear your most resplendent frock (or suit) to breakfast. Drag out the fancy-schmancy birthday present alcohol and swill it on an ordinary evening. Life ITSELF is a pretty darn good occasion, so celebrate it as often as you can!

Happy, happy Friday! How was your week? I hope it’s been an exceptional one!

xoxo

Thank Frock It’s Friday! ♥

purplelips

Shock! Gasp! Guilt! A week’s zoomed by without a SINGLE Frock & Roll update! A-r-g-h! (If the Bad Blogger police swoop in and arrive soon, I’m NOT here, okay?! Eek! Hide me!)

I’m several kinds of sorry about the tumbleweeds! Sometimes, as I’m sure you know all too well, life just happens, filling our schedules with unexpected plans (and colds. BLURGH!) and making us blink with confusion over where exactly the days have whirled off to. But, let’s not natter about time. It’s the weekend! Let’s gab about what we’re presently enchanted with! (Personally, I adore it when people slip the word “enchanted” into conversations. I asked somebody how they were the other evening and they boomed “I’m feeling ENCHANTED!” How unexpectedly great is that?!)

Glitter Wallet, Glitter Heart Wallet, Sparkly Wallet

x Deux Lux’s ‘Game Of Hearts’ Wallet – It’s not every week that I’d nominate an accessory as a highlight of, well, the week (jeez, try uttering that mouthful three times!), but this baby’s a BEAUTY! Glimmering, gorgeous and an absolute steal at $19.99, I’m seriously considering purchasing duplicates of it out of fear for how I’ll eventually survive when it falls apart. (Which is so silly that it actually pains me to re-read this sentence, but ugh! I’m smitten with it! I can’t even bring myself to use it yet!)

x Empty Planes – Look, I love people, but is there anything grander when flying than boarding a plane and discovering that it’s virtually empty? I THINK NOT! (Psst! I’m beginning to think that the trick to landing – ba doom chi! – one of these is sacrificing sleep for a 6.00AM flight, because each time I’ve opted for a super-early departure, I’ve winded up having an entire row of seats to myself. Try it next time you’re holidaying and share your findings!)

x Re-visiting The Past… And Being Content To Leave It Behind – Have you ever – recently or otherwise – re-visited the area that you grew up in? It can be s-s-strange! On Monday, the second-to-last day of my holiday in Wellington, I decided to jump on a bus and trundle through my former neck of the woods, Lower Hutt. It’d been 12 years since I’d set foot anywhere near there, and I kind of expected to feel a teensy bit emotional about the whole experience (what can I say?! I’m a sentimental old git!), but mostly? I just felt grateful. Extremely grateful for the moments that I’d spent there with my family, but also grateful for evolution. (Because what a boring tale we’d have to tell if everything stayed the same!)

x Other Little Things – Rocky Road ice-creams; sitting in front of Wellington harbour on a spectacularly warm afternoon (well, until I was SPAT ON, that is! Oh, life. You’re full of surprises!); dreaming of launching a size 11+ footwear company (of course, I don’t have the foggiest idea about design, but my brain’s been obsessively tinkering away with the idea!); mock “chicken” laksa; the fact that Air New Zealand had (hyperventilate!) Stone Sour on their audio playlists; when Tom says “I read your blog today!” (you must understand the cuteness of this; he NEVER ventures on the internet! He’s a cabinet maker and the digital world absolutely baffles him); The Midnight Juggernauts’ So Many Frequencies (it’s old, old, old, but new to me!); dusting my eyes in lilac; and enormous earrings!

Suggestions For The Week Ahead

x Spend a week carting your camera around with you everywhere and document the everyday! Snap as many photos as you can, from varying heights, unusual angles, and of unexpected objects. As Robin Williams’ character in the movie One Hour Photo concludes, “most people don’t take snapshots of the little things. The used Band-Aid, the guy at the gas station, the wasp on the Jell-O. People don’t take pictures of these things. But these are the things that make up the true picture of our lives.”

Bake a deliciously sweet treat for a weeknight in. (When was the last time your kitchen was filled with the scent of freshly made cookies? For me, it’s been ages! I’m going to surprise Tom with a pudding this week.) There’s something oddly therapeutic about the process, and plus, once you’re done, you’ll have dessert! W-i-n!

xoxo

Thank Frock It’s Friday! ♥

If you’re clicking here for the first time, WELCOME! Every Friday we celebrate the fact that – ding, ding! – it’s Friday, and our favourite things (a delicious sandwich? BROOMSTICKS?! Okay, probably not the latter…) from the week that was. Here’s what I’m currently loving!

x My Boyfriend, Tom – Oh, I KNOW! Mush, mush, mush! (I’m sorry!) The man, honestly though, is my absolute saviour. On Thursday I realized that I was flying to New Zealand in 24 hours and that I hadn’t packed my bags or, uh, organized anything, and that I wouldn’t be home until 12.30AM that night to do so. (Cue Chic singing ”freak out!”) WELL. When I finally arrived home, there was a note saying ‘’hello, my little muddle-headed wombat. YOU DRIVE ME CRAZY SOMETIMES!’’, but he’d arranged everything. Packed my suitcase. Fished out my passport and left it on the table. Organised a shuttle service to pick me up from our apartment at 6.00AM and take me directly to the airport. I don’t think there’s enough words to be able to describe how grateful I am for him daily, but I do know this: I owe him one huge, huge souvenir!

x Wellington, New Zealand – It feels so strange, so surreal and SO heartwarmingly good to be in this city! I’m not sure what it is, but there’s a vibrancy and charm to Wellington that’s completely unique: it’s fairly small, but it doesn’t seem small, and it’s extremely well laid-out. (I love Sydney, but I often think that it must be such a confusing destination for tourists!)

Wellington, Wellington Harbour, Wellington Ocean

Wellington alive

Wellington, Wellington, Wellington. Isn’t she splendid?!

x Unwinding – Life has been FULL-ON and fast-paced for close to two years now (and it’s entirely my fault; I have a fear of regrets and therefore attempt to cram as much as possible into each day!), so having some downtime this weekend has been perfect. It’s been super-strange to be dining solo (have I mentioned that I’m holidaying alone? I am!) in restaurants full of couples and groups, but it’s also been precisely what I’ve needed. (And besides… it’s good to learn to be comfortable on your own!)

x Other Little Things – The James Cook Grand Chancellor Hotel (it’s l-o-v-e-l-y!)Russell Brand’s touching tribute to Amy Winehouse and thoughts on addiction (”all addicts, regardless of the substance or their social status, share a consistent and obvious symptom; they’re not quite present when you talk to them”; Aunty Mena’s Vegetarian Cafe` on Cuba Street; consistently bumping into someone I know every. single. time. I travel (it’s bizarre!); wise cracks from border security (‘’Oh, so you’re a writer? Well, how about you WRITE your date of birth on this card, then!’’);  $130 boots reduced to $60; unexpected ”let’s catch up!” messages; The Runaways; capturing the everyday moments; strolling around aimlessly; sniffing and whiffing the concoctions in Lush Cosmetics; guzzling lemon and honey; and knowing that I TWO MORE FULL DAYS here! Yes!

Suggestions For The Week Ahead

x TAKE YOURSELF ON A MINIATURE BREAK! (Did you know that was coming?! I bet you did!) Truly, START PLANNING ONE! It’s insanely easy to fret about money (we all have bills!) and to feel guilty about indulging in ourselves (this I don’t understand), but sometimes you just have to throw caution to the wind and do exactly what you need to do. (Even if other people don’t get it! When I told my father that I was planning a trip back to Wellington he was excited, but perplexed: ‘’Oh, cool! So you’re going with Tom?’’ Me: ‘’Nope!’’ Dad: ”So you’re catching up with your friends from primary school then?” Me: ”Maybe! But I haven’t planned anything.” Dad: ”So… you’re travelling alone?” Me: ”Yes!” Dad: *silence*) Our mind, body and soul are three of the most important friends that we’ll ever have. If we don’t look after them, they have an incredible way of reminding us who’s boss! (I’m 110% convinced that’s why I’m battling a cold at the moment.)

x Stuff the store-bought scrubs or body washes (I can’t believe that some of these now cost $8. I mean, WHAT?! Those pennies are better spent on your future getaway!) and whip up your own. All you need is olive oil, brown sugar, and if you’re feeling ultra-fancy, some essential oils!

The weekend! It’s here! What’s making YOU happy?

xoxo

Playing on the swings with Ruby & imitating ridiculous birds at Whale Beach, Sydney! ♥
Thank frock indeed!

Here’s what I’m loving this week:

x Catching Up With Family – AWWW! My Auntie Ngaire and her adorable little daughter Ruby have been holidaying in Sydney from New Zealand this week, and do you know how lovely it’s been to catch up with them? EXTREMELY! (What is it about spending time with family that always feels extra-special? I don’t know, but it does!) We spent Tuesday playing tourist and visited Palm Beach (where television show Home & Away is filmed) and gobbled a delectable lunch at The Boathouse (no, really, I have visuals!), and it’s been great. I can’t wait to see them again tonight for a wine or two three!

272337_2263472263877_1160580520_32817234_1734663_o

Ngaire and Ruby. Aren’t they both absolutely STUNNING?!

My Auntie & cousin from New Zealand are renting this apartment in Sydney for the week... um, CAN I LIVE HERE?! Look at that VIEW! (It's in Collaroy!)

The insane view from the apartment they’re staying in. UGH! Can you believe it?! I almost died when I spied it! (How is it even possible for properties this beautiful to exist?!)

283980_10150369611315130_507245129_10267846_7700883_n

x Divine Fish & Chips From The Boathouse, Palm Beach – Oh, BOY. Photographs don’t even begin to do these babies justice! They were sublime.

x Feeling Impatient (And Consequently Applying To Volunteer At My Local Retirement Village!)  Okay, so I don’t actually know whether this is a grand thing or not, but JEEZ I’ve been feeling impatient lately! It’s namely just towards excuses and personal procrastination, but all of a sudden I feel as though I have zero time for ”yeah, I would like to do that, but…”‘s or ”wouldn’t it be fun if…”? I mean, why even wonder anymore?! Why not just DO?! (And with that, I decided to apply to volunteer at my local retirement village today. I’ve been itching to do this for years, so the moment had well and truly come to pick up the phone and make plans!)

x Other Little Things – City & Colour (how neat are they?! Sometimes is marvellous); being played Madonna’s Waiting (oh. my. GOODNESS! It was in jest, but still! H-i-l-a-r-i-o-u-s!); gobbling pistachio gelato; ”so, how’s the apartment?” ”Oh, wait until you SEE IT! You won’t know what to do with yourself! You won’t know what to do with your LIFE!” (a dramatic speaker, moi? Yes!); exciting freelance commissions (this morning I discovered that I’m going to be penning a piece for Dogs Life magazine in September!); expertly-crafted chai lattes; ‘do you know that when you look at me… it is a salvation?” (oh, Air, I’m still loving you!); Corey Taylor, Corey Taylor, Corey Taylor (he’s an author, singer, and – little-known fact – my absolute hero); playing on the swings at Whale Beach with Ruby and making ridiculous bird sounds; interesting phobias (I met a woman yesterday who was petrified of tomato sauce. How fantastic!); and DARES!

Suggestions For The Week Ahead

x Next time you’re feeling tremble-y about wading through a particular situation (whether it’s an exam, job interview or break-up), remember: MILLIONS of other people have been in similar positions and survived, so don’t fret! To quote the magical Molly, ”others might have been scared, or tense, or nervous, just like you, but they got through the tough spots, and so will you.”

x Buy a bundle of $2 lottery tickets and distribute them to people you love with your fingers crossed.

Happy, happy Friday! What are YOU loving today?

xoxo
